First Nations & Inuit Schools

We are committed to collaborating with First Nations and Inuit schools and partners to integrate technology in ways that are both strategic and meaningful. By working together, we can foster student success through a supportive, culturally responsive approach that honours the local expertise of the communities we serve.

We encourage all educators to explore the workshops below and the resources by their local Indigenous communities to better develop Competency 15: To value and support Indigenous knowledges and ways of knowing.

Podcasting for Cultural and Language Revitalization

In collaboration with the Office of First Nations and Inuit Education at McGill University and the Mohawk Language Custodian Association,  le service national pour les Premières Nations et Inuit coordinated a podcasting workshop for teachers-in-training.  Professionals from RÉCIT Univers Social and LEARN RÉCIT for the Anglophone Community provided the workshop on-site at the Kanehsatake Cultural Centre. The workshop allowed participants to build their technical skills and consider podcasting as an educational tool to preserve Indigenous cultures and languages for future generations.
